Reacting to last Saturday's drawn Munster Senior Hurling Championship match against Cork, Tipperary captain Noel McGrath told GAAGO “We were probably disappointed we didn’t win. We got to four, five points up at different stages and didn’t push on from there.
"But you’re playing a Cork team that are able to use the ball and are able to take scores, and they were clinical with their chances, and you have to be at this level.
“There were other aspects of our game that we probably won’t be happy with.
“Any day you go out and you’re conceding four goals isn’t a good day. You have an awful lot of ground to claw back to get four goals back, I know we got two ourselves.
"That’s a whole team effort. Some of those goals could easily have come from the forward end of the field, where somebody mightn’t have tracked a run, or somebody might have made a bad decision or dropped a ball.
“But there will be areas that we will be happy with tonight. We put up a good score and the subs who came on again made an impact, so that’s what you’re looking for.
“There will be disappointment but we’ll get over it tonight and we’ll get over it tomorrow. We’ll look at the positives from it and we’ll see what we can work on, and we’ll go ahead and see what we can do for Limerick in two weeks’ time.
“We had two away matches to start, we’ve got three points out of it, we’ll take that for now. We are disappointed (not to have won), but all you can do is move forward. You can’t sit down and feel sorry for yourself, we’ve a massive challenge in two weeks’ time in Thurles, and you just have to get yourself up for it again”.
Meanwhile, man of the match Alan Tynan, who was playing in only his second championship game, told GAAGO “it was a very tough one to take. It was a bit of a whirlwind game, we got the upper hand in the first half, they flew back in with their goals.
“Cork just didn’t stop fighting, they kept going to the very end and picked off two goals, and looking at it from a team perspective we were probably disappointed to concede those. But fair play to Cork, they were very clinical with every chance they got.
“The first day against Clare I let the nerves probably get the better of me a small bit. But I learned from that and driving in (today) I tried to take in the occasion. It’s an unbelievable atmosphere and an unbelievable stadium, so where else would you want to be on a Saturday evening.
“We’ve Limerick next, All-Ireland champions and I don’t think I have to say much more about them, they’re a serious side.
“But we’ll regroup and we’ll go again, and we’ll fight hard”.
