At half time in the Dillon Quirke Challenge between Tipperary and Kilkenny, the Tipperary Hurler of the Year 2022 Award, which was won by Dillon Quirke, was presented to Dillon’s family.
The Annual Award, again kindly sponsored by John Quirke Jewellers, Cahir, was presented to Kellie Quirke, Dillon’s sister, by Terry O’Neill, Chair of the Tipperary Supporters Club.
The perpetual Tony Reddin Cup was presented to Kellie Quirke by Joe Tuohy, Tipperary Supporters Club committee member and native of Clonoulty Rossmore. Flowers were also presented to Kellie Quirke and to Hazel Quirke, Dillon’s mother.
In addition, a video of the 1989 All Ireland Under 21 Hurling Final courtesy of Brendan Kerins, Premier Video Productions, was presented by John Quirke who also did the commentary on the match. Dan Quirke, Dillon’s father scored three goals in that final, helping Tipperary beat Offaly.
The Tipperary Supporters Club also made a donation to the Dillon Quirke Foundation Fund.
The Tipperary Hurler of the Year is awarded by vote of the Tipperary Supporters Club members every year
