Dear Tipperary Supporter
All Ireland Minor Hurling Final
From Tipperary GAA Scene by Jonathan Cullen, County Board PRO
This Sunday is a very big day for our Minor hurlers as they travel to UPMC Nowlan Park to play Offaly in this years All Ireland final at 1.30pm. Following their semi final win over Galway the players have been preparing diligently for the challenge that lies ahead in the final, a large crowd is expected to travel to the game and with this in mind we would advise everyone to arrive in Kilkenny well in advance of the throw in time so as to avoid any potential delays getting to the stadium. As with all games at this stage of the championship, traffic restrictions will be in operation around Kilkenny city so we ask all supporters to follow the direction of Gardai and stewards who will direct them to the designated parking areas. For clubs who are travelling by bus, Kilkenny GAA have advised us of the following arrangements. Tipperary traffic approaching Kilkenny from the North on the Freshford Road should travel to the Stadium via Greens Bridge and follow the Match Traffic signs to access the designated parking areas for buses at Hebron industrial Estate and Car Parks at O’Loughlin Gaels and Mac Donagh Junction. Tipperary traffic approaching Kilkenny from the South via the Callan Road should take the Ring Road as far as the Dublin Road Roundabout and access parking at St Canice’s Hospital and Mac Donagh Junction. Any buses should travel on to the Hebron Road Roundabout and access the Bus Parking from there. There will also be a number of car parks available including O’Loughlin Gaels GAA R95 RX63, Newpark Medical Centre R95 TV7X, Mac Donagh Junction S C R95 PDK2, HSE Lacken R95 NV08, County Hall, Maudlin Street R95 A39T, Public Car Park, John’s Green R95XE00.
Admission to UPMC Nowlan Park for Juvenile Groups will be through Turnstiles Nos 27, 28 and 29 in Ardan O Cearbhaill. Any adults, taking charge of groups, who may have already purchased tickets for any of the other stands will be admitted to Ardan O Cearbhaill. All adults should have purchased tickets in advance. Our main concern is the safety of all children on Sunday. We are expecting large numbers of very excited juveniles and ask that you co-operate with the Gardai and stewards to ensure the safe movement of children between buses and the stadium.
We wish the players and team management the very best of good luck on Sunday in what will surely be a great game between two teams who have both impressed in all their games to date this year.
All Ireland Senior Hurling Semi Final Referee
Best wishes to Knockavilla Donaskeigh Kickhams clubman Ferghal Horgan who will take charge of this Saturdays All Ireland senior hurling championship semi final between Clare and Kilkenny which takes place in Croke Park at 5.30pm. Ferghal has proven himself to be a top class inter county referee over the last number of years and has taken charge of many very high profile games and provincial and national level. We wish Ferghal and his team of officials the very best of luck on Saturday and we have no doubt that he will contribute handsomely to what is expected to be a cracking game.
Age Grades Reviewed
The recent meeting of Coiste Bainistíochta has set up a special workgroup to examine the issue of age grades in the GAA. The 2022 Congress saw several diferent motions on age grades and on how they should be defned. This new group will explore all of the issues raised and provide recommendations for a Special Congress to be held later this year. Make your club’s voice heard and get in touch with your county board rep and Central Council delegate.
Central Council Review
Ard Chomhairle, or Central Council, is the main decision-making body in the GAA outside of annual Congress. Uachtarán CLG Larry McCarthy has just announced a new workgroup to review the role of Ard Chomhairle and to ensure it runs the Association efectively. The group will be chaired by the experienced Iar-Uachtarán Christy Cooney from Cork. Every club sends a representative to its county board and every county board has delegates that represent them at Central Council. It’s important that this pathway for clubs to feed into the thinking and decisions of the Association is working.

Drom & Inch Man Cathal Ryan Presents ^Pucked”
Cathal Ryan’s one man show Pucked will have its premiere performance at this year’s Clonmel Junction Arts Festival. The show is as fast as the game itself, with an array of characters all played by Cathal himself. A big hurling man himself having played with Drom and Inch GAA club for years before recently transferring to Civil Service GAA club up in Dublin recently Cathal is well versed in the world of the GAA, “We are soaked in the GAA, there is such passion and heart behind it it lends itself really well to stage” says Cathal.
Pucked tells the story of Matty Daly a young man full of ambition to be one of the greats of the game. We travel along with Matty as we meet all the trials and tribulations he encounters both on and off the field. “I hope it will be a story that will resonate with a lot of young people, growing up both on the hurling field and life there can be a lot of pressure, especially the pressure we put on ourselves.”
Pucked runs from June 30th to July 2nd in the Festival Dome. Tickets and info can be found at:
