Liam versus Liam, a game that will intrigue any genuine Tipperary hurling supporter on Saturday afternoon. The current Tipperary King, and, by popular opinion, the heir to the throne, will pit their wits against each other for the first time in championship hurling. The funny part about the situation is that the likes of me, you and the rest of the watching world are the only ones that will really be caught up in that side-show. The main characters – the players and management – will only be focused on the practicalities of getting one over each other on the field of play.
So who are the leading men? I think before we get to the players, we need to think about what the mindset of the Tipperary management is as they pick apart the rubble of that second half disaster against Limerick. The many minds of the Tipperary public will also have been mulling over the defeat, and more importantly, what we will do next. Some will see how enthusiastic the younger players were coming on and want caution thrown to the wind. Some will say that the team that started did so well that they should get another chance and to maybe get the young cubs on a little quicker this time.....
